Aito Yoshimitsu (吉光 和仁, Yoshimitsu Aito) is the 18th descendant of Seiryuu’s bloodline. Due to his ancestry, he is one of the Four Auspicious Beasts earthly embodiment, soon taking the Azure Dragon’s inheritance mantle. His courtesy name is 柳子谦 (Liǔ Ziqiān) personally bestowed by Suzaku, The Vermillion Bird of The South.

Appearance

He often wears long blue-accented apparels that accentuate his entire physique due to personal preference and the fact that it is easier to move should emergency situation arises. Due to being descended from a Han, his complexion is rather fair, sometimes miraculously doesn’t take long of the sun’s burnt trait due to his natural healing affinity. Disliking ostentatious and frivolous accessories, his inheritance symbol is shortened into only a dragon head that adorns his waist belt. When living up to his role as a heir of Maruyama Sect, he ultimately dons a headpiece and a pair of wide, rounded silver earrings.

Regarding his appearance, he believes that he is not too good, not too ugly—the kind of average look that bears no malice. He is also described as tall, around 182 cm, with long legs and is often described as someone who is lean while clothed but muscular when not.

Personality

Aito, who was born into a household that hosts several branches of family, never thought that the one who’ll inherit the house’s symbol would be him. He is depicted as a shy and stuttering child until several incidents that led him into Lin Shufen’s tutelage. Being in his care, Aito starts to grow out of his shyness and eventually turns into a dependable young man. He eventually matures into a playful and crisp-humoured young man with a keen sense of calmness. It is also shown that he is the type that cherishes every encounters with those who came across his path, determining to treat them as best as he could without a state of impartiality.

Usually, he behaves in an amiable manner and with a seamless bound of patience; able to take up conversations with a hint of subtle jokes here and there. Although as a heir, he has the bearing of someone who delivers cut-throat decision and swift acts, more often being straightforward in solving impending troubles. Depending on the person, he might unconsciously takes up a big brother’s role, due to having a lot of smaller siblings at home. As such, he is unusually proficient at handling children in general. It is also mentioned that he is also fond of playfully teasing people.

He is also notably furtive and careful in his manner, making sure to not leave any impending troubles for the future. This is due to his identity as a cultivator who slays demons and evils alike, especially considering how cultivation seems to be a long-lost art over turbulent times.

Being under Lin Shufen’s tutelage influences him to be a righteous man, but not too righteous as in demanding absolute perfection of good. Nothing is absolute except for conflicts of interests. If his teacher truly believes in being good and kind both in speech and mannerisms whether to friend or foe, then Aito himself leans towards being good and kind to those who does not stray too much from the right path.

Background

Born into Maruyama Sect which also hosts several family branches, Aito realizes early that he needs to get along with most of everyone to maintain a well-lived life. However, his shyness and socially awkward personality as a child seems to hinder most of his task although he is quite adored. Once upon a time, when he was seven, he stumbles upon a deserted temple in one of the forbidden family’s area and with some incidents, activated the Soul Guiding Array that summoned the spirit of ancient cultivator named Lin Shufen. The spirit, amiable and kind, led Aito to go home, not expecting that the child will show up next day and brought him offerings. Siblings at his age had already been chosen by their mentors; only Aito profusely refused and adamantly requested Lin Shufen to be his Master. Moved by the kid’s sincerity and stubbornness, Lin Shufen eventually agrees. After all, he could not return to the Soul Guiding Array and isn’t able to enter the reincarnation cycle until the branded mark on his soul dissipates.

Lin Shufen taught Aito all he knew. Due to having passed away 300 years prior, his knowledge is considered to be unique and strange, for the ancient arts had long diminished over time. Aito learns the ancient martial arts, sword, and arts of cultivating and would often face discrimination due to having taken disciple by a spirit.

In this time, since the master-disciple had spent time together a lot with each other, his spiritual senses are also sharpened. It is easy for him to see and sense otherworldly appearances and presences of both evil and kind spirits, but in the same time due to his pure yang energy, he remains unpreturbed.

Time eventually passes and Aito, having subjected to his teacher’s silent sorrows at night, vowed to help the mark that brandishes his teacher’s soul to disappear. All he knew was that his teacher was once stabbed by a special-made sword that enables its mark to the soul. In order to perish the brandished mark, it is necessary to collect the remnants of the victim and bury it properly with ancient ritual.

Thus, he embarks on a journey to search for his teacher’s remnants, sometimes aided by fellow descendants and co-ancestor, such as Hokuto who embodies Genbu and a perfume-loving Suzaku.

Abilities

Basic Survival – it goes beyond saying that he is able to survive on his own in the extremes of environment, relying solely on both his wit and luck. Proficient in cooking, but if he’s cooking for you, you’ll have to remind him. Else the cooked food will have bland taste.Divination – Lin Shufen taught him many things, including how to spiritually cleanse a surrounding, or even divination such as how to glimpse at someone’s basic personality through Four Pillars of Destiny or even by appearance alone. This also allows him to grasp and empathize with any kind of divination process that he encounters.Ancient Martial Arts – this is techniques solely learnt under Lin Shufen’s supervision. The style is suitably described as light but carries certain deadly moves that are devoid of killing intent.Swordmanship – not only leaning towards moves and techniques, there are four stages in sword arts: Sword Energy, Sword Intent, Sword Heart, and Sword Spirit. Due to his age and still-limited comprehension, he could only managed to reach the Sword Intent stage. This stage allows him to manifests his intent and recreates thousands of imaginary blades into physical sword by optimizing qi that is of aligned features with his own elemental constitution.names

Yuugen is his original sword formed from his spiritual core. Afflicted with wood elemental, a sword that specializes in neutralizing and channeling attacks. Due to its affinity with the owner, it will often vibrates with its surrounding and seem to have a soul of its own, sometimes pointing towards unsuspected clues.

Kogarashi is a sword inherited from Lin Shufen. Its special constitution expends Lin Shufen’s life force upon usage–indeed, before his unavoidable forced death, he had imbued his remaining life force to his own blade and the blade disappears, only to reappear when he bestows it to his disciple 300 years after. If the reserve is running out, it does not hesitate in switching to Aito’s own life force. A weapon he rarely uses due to its extremely destructive and cold-ruthless vengeance aura, for its lingering resentment stems from Lin Shufen’s suffering from a certain sword that brandished mark on his soul. Lin Shufen – Aito’s spiritual shizun. Once a renowned righteous cultivator of its golden era, an embodiment of 99 virtues. Passed away 300 years prior. Was summoned and manifested through The Soul Guiding Array in a deserted temple of Seiryu’s descendants settlement. A gentle and understanding person. Due to Aito’s relentless request, eventually concedes to becoming his teacher. His soul was tampered with spiritual fire marks of unknown cause, but it is stated that the mark causes pain to one’s soul and while the mark exists, the soul itself can’t enter the reincarnation cycle and instead, have to wait in the Soul Guiding Array until the mark subsides.Seiryuu/Qinglong – The Sovereign of Spring, Azure Dragon Guarding the West Gate. Main ancestor of the Maruyama Sect, building the latter due to a camarederie assisting Suzaku who lost its Beast Core. Usually appears as a smiling young man with authoritative and spring-scented vibe. As a high spiritual being, he is forbidden to directly handles mortal affairs, thus decided to throw the responsibilities to his descendants. Every crown heir of Maruyama Sect is chosen through the Sect Leader’s dream and must vow to be struck by thunder until their death if they told lies regarding Seiryu’s choice. Every heir/sect leader is granted an audience with Seiryu once in their lifetime, allowing them to ask or request almost anything.names

• Has sensitive tastebuds. He can’t eat food that is too spicy, sweet, salty, and bitter. He maintains mild diet while in the same time he is also capable of eating in a whole lot of portions.
• Heavily prefers tea due to its mild and just-right flavor. Can’t stand coffee but won’t judge another for liking it. Isn’t it simply a matter of preference?
• Likes to make his own meal, especially congee and steamed fresh river fish.
• When he cooks, he tends to not add seasonings due to him used to present his shizun a whole lot of food offerings since his childhood. Due to his shy and stuttering nature, it proves to be a struggle for a kid to make his own offerings and since the dead does not care about flavor, this habit continues until now. If someone does not reprimand him that he is not only cooking for himself, then you can guarantee his food are all those of looks good, smells good, but with no flavor whatsoever.
• The 7th generation of Maruyama Sect is known as a prodigy with particular pattern of thinking. When he met Seiryu, he asked if Seiryu is able to make a man pregnant. The Azure Dragon, amused, decided to teach the 7th generation a fertility spell. It is stated in the scroll that, “In this knowledge, the chants are effective to form wombs on men and renders infertile women fertile. However, it is only restricted for our clan’s usage only, with requirements that both parties had given their consent for the spell or its efficacy is questionable. It can be used several times on women but once on men so as to avoid yin and yang imbalance and incurring the Heaven’s wrath upon Earth.”
